Our brief from Tower Hamlets for this campaign was to focus on the theme that relationships are the strength of Tower Hamlets Children’s Services. It’s about the relationships they build with children and families, their relationships with colleagues, and the relationship they have with the place and its communities.
Because relationships matter at Tower Hamlets, social workers feel supported and empowered to achieve the best possible outcomes and play a real part in the communities they work with around the borough. Capturing the spirit of Tower Hamlets, we filmed social workers in and around the borough, talking about they feel enabled to do the best job for children and families.
But we didn’t just want to talk about the power of relationships built with children and young people. We wanted to show it.
So we asked care leavers that our featured social workers had worked with to record messages of thanks to them – to record how they genuinely felt about their social worker, and the positive impact they’d had on their life. With two of these messages, we were able to capture social workers’ immediate, genuine responses to watching these messages for the first time.
Seeing what that relationship and its outcome meant to them, brought the film campaign theme to life in a powerful and authentic way.
